Number 10: Tea Mug

Tea Mug

This was surprisingly difficult to draw. The sketch left me wanting to apologize and make excuses for how busy I am, how little time I have to draw something more interesting than a mug, how this mug really is as boring as it looks in the drawing. But that’s not what this blog is about. In fact, I think that should be one of the rules: no excuses, no apologies, just make a mark on the page and celebrate it.

Dude. Now I want coffee. So it had to be doing its job at some level.

    Mmmm. Coffee.

I love this drawing, b/c isn’t it a ceramic double walled cup with a silicone/rubber lid? Made to look like a 2go cup but it’s not? Anyhow, having drawn a lot of pots in the past few years, I appreciate the eraser lines showing the search for correct proportion. They (the shadowy lines) also make the cup look lively and the drawing look interesting. Well done.

Now that I look at it again, maybe it’s a plastic mug with a transparent outer layer. Whatever. I still like the drawing a lot. U rule. (I miss my ceramic double-walled made to look like a 2go cup that I broke last year 😦
