Number 17: Femur

It sounds like a Muppet character, but it’s actually the long bone in your thigh. It’s a graceful bone and hooks nicely into the pelvis in a ball-and-socket joint. It has such colorfully-named bits as The Great Trochanter and The Lesser Condyle. I can see the people who named these bits laughing in Heaven at we who earnestly study them. Sort of like Paul McCartney and “I Am the Walrus.”
